Registrations

To register for any of Paleo Fall Meeting workshops you do not have to be a participant in the event. You will need to sign up at the Event Management System platform of the University of Évora and follow the steps below:

Make your registration at https://sge.uevora.pt/users/register (you will receive a confirmation email to finalize your registration);
Login at https://sge.uevora.pt and select the event “Paleo Fall Meeting Workshops“;
Select the Subscribe option from the right side options and then Confirm Subscription;
Once you have confirmed your desired workshop registration and made the corresponding payment, select the Verify Payment option where you will be asked for your billing details and where you should upload your proof of payment.

In case of cancellation of the registration, the participants are informed that they will not be reimbursed the registration fee in any of the available workshops.

1. Palynology and Paleopalynology: what it is and what it is for.

Main contents: main concepts, general morphology and taxonomy, Palynoestratigraphy, Paleoecology and paleoclimates, other applications ofPalynologyy.
The workshop will be accompanied by hands-on activities under the microscope, with problem-solving exercises and case studies.

2. Microanalysis methods applied to paleontology.

This workshop seeks to present the potential of SEM-EDS and LA-ICP-MS analytical techniques and their practical applications in Paleontology.
Participants will be able to learn the basics of these cutting-edge analytical technologies and interact directly with microanalysis of different samples, currently under study in the HERCULES laboratory to answer current scientific questions.

3. Fossil preparation with the Natural History Society.

At this workshop participants will be able to experiment with airscribes, basic equipment for fossil sediment removal, and apply adhesives.
It is intended to give a basic notion of the equipment and chemicals used in paleontological preparation.
